2016 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS Release Date
The North American International Auto Show featured some of the most exciting vehicles for the upcoming model year. We saw Mercedes-Benz lift the curtain on its new GLE Coupe and a couple new iterations of its popular C-Class, but in true Porsche fashion, it was not to be outdone by any automaker. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 911 Targa, Porsche unveiled a new version of icon — the 2016 Porsche Targa 4 GTS. The stunning new model is aimed at a very specific type of driver — one who wants the open-air feel of a cabriolet with astounding all-wheel drive performance.
While no official year has been given to the new model, we anticipate it will wear a 2016 model year badge. Before we get into any specifics, the 2016 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS release date is expected in late April, so stay posted around that time so you can be one of the first to get behind the wheel.
This is the first time the Porsche Targa will sport the GTS badge, making it one of the most powerful models in the Targa variation’s history. The 2016 Porsche Targa 4 GTS will get its power from a naturally-aspirated horizontally opposed 3.8-liter six cylinder engine with rear positioning. That engine will kick out 430 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. When equipped with the Porsche PDK transmission, the all-new Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS will zip from 0-60 in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 187 mph.
The 911 Targa is immediately identifiable as an all-wheel drive model thanks to its flared rear wheel arches — a design element missing in rear-wheel drive 911 Carrera models. The new 911 Targa 4 GTS styling is more than just good looks, as practical design elements like a modded front bumper with an additional opening help air flow more freely to better cool the center radiator.
Look for the 2016 Porsche Targa 4 GTS release date in late April of 2015. In the meantime, check out the other Porsche 911 GTS models available on the Loeber Motors lot.
