2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Release Date
Much has been made about the interior of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Autoblog called the sedan’s cabin “the new standard of the class” while Edmunds states that it “strikes a balance between classic elegance and high-tech functionality.”
Although that commentary came before the official unveiling of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class at the Detroit Auto Show, those sentiments only ring more true with the sedan’s debut.
Now that the curtain has been lifted, it’s time to get a better understanding for what makes this model so special. But before we dive into the highlights, let’s find out when this technological marvel will go on sale. According to the automaker, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class release date will come in late summer of 2016. Although that’s a fairly broad time frame, we’ll provide a more precise date as that time of year approaches.
2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class vs. 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
As has been well-documented, the biggest changes to the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class are to the interior. While we’ll touch on those, we’ve already dedicated a post to the best 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior features.
Although we’ve seen the interior, the E-Class reveal at the Detroit Auto Show provided us our first glimpse at the redesigned exterior. What it revealed was a sleeker design that Mercedes-Benz describes as “coupe-esque.”
In terms of size, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior is larger than the 2016 model. The wheelbase of the next-generation model grows by 2.6 inches. Likewise, the exterior is 1.7 inches longer. That size should translate to a little extra interior space.
New AIR BODY CONTROL Suspension Available
For 2017, the E-Class will feature an available AIR BODY CONTROL suspension — a self-leveling air suspension designed to provide supreme comfort. Based on factors like speed and terrain, the AIR BODY CONTROL suspension automatically adjusts ride height to enhance fuel economy. And with the push of a button, drivers can increase ride height to ensure they have clearance on rocky roads or in difficult winter driving conditions.
More Standard Safety Tech
In addition to all the conveniences the 2017 E-Class interior provides, it is also loaded with active safety features that were merely options in the previous generation. Systems like ATTENTION ASSIST, Active Brake Assist, PRE-SAFE Sound, and Crosswind Assist all make their way into the base model.
At this point, Mercedes-Benz has not revealed the the models that will be in the 2017 E-Class range, but we expect the release of the base model in late summer, followed by diesel and AMG options, and likely a few others.
We’ll continue to provide further insight into the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class and its exhaustive list of new features and tech. In the meantime, take a look at how the current E-Class stacks up against some of its luxury rivals.
