How To Program Mercedes-Benz HomeLink Garage Door Opener

The many available features, amenities, and technology are likely part of the reason you bought a Mercedes-Benz. Although some of the tech features require a little setup on your part, they are designed to make your life easier and your ride more enjoyable. Plus, you paid good money for those creature comforts and we’d hate to see them go unused. While our Mercedes-Benz vehicle specialists can help you program your in-vehicle technology at delivery or even after purchase, we do our best to provide you some handy resources right here. So without further ado, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to program Mercedes-Benz HomeLink Garage Door Opener.

Step 1: Clear all of the buttons below your rearview mirror by turning on the ignition and pressing the first and third button simultaneously for about 20 seconds. If one of the buttons is already programmed to a different door, skip this step.

Step 2: Press and hold the button you want to program until the indicator light turns yellow and begins flashing.

Step 3: Take the hand-held remote for your garage door and hold it about an inch away from the button on the rearview mirror. Hold the button on the garage door opener until that yellow light turns green or flashes green. Be patient, it could take up to 25 seconds for the HomeLink system to recognize the opener.

If it is solid green, you have a fixed system and and your garage door open will open by pressing the button you just programmed. If it is flashing green, you have a rolling code garage door opener and you can proceed to step 4.

Note: If the indicator light turns from yellow to red, you did not successfully program your Mercedes-Benz HomeLink Garage Door opener. Try it again in a different position or revert back to step 1.

Garage Door Opener Step 4: If you have a rolling code garage door opener system, you’ll sync your car with the actual opener. Go to the opener mounted in your garage and press the Training or Smart button, usually located on the back of the opener.

Step 5: Within 30 seconds of pressing the Training or Smart button on your opener, return to your vehicle and press and release the button you want to program up to three times until the garage door opener works.

Tip: Press the button for about 2 seconds before releasing in this final step.

Please note that the Mercedes-Benz HomeLink Garage Door Opener will only work while your vehicle’s ignition is on. If you need help with this process, check out the video below, give us a call or refer to your owner’s manual.

The 2017 E300 has a service bulletin out it’s Homelink (garage door opener) system. I would take it to the dealership and have them update your software.
