2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Release Date

What are Mercedes-AMG 43 models?

Remember the AMG Sport line? It represented a middle ground of sorts for drivers who didn’t want to fully commit to the AMG brand (and the prices that come with it) but also wanted a larger dose of performance than what the traditional lineup had to offer.

While the idea of AMG Sport remains intact, it is getting a bit of a branding overhaul, as models in this middle ground are now fully integrated into the AMG brand, wearing AMG 43 badging. That said, expect AMG to take these models up a notch from their AMG Sport predecessors.

The ’43’ models boast the characteristic AMG genes, which are also included in our GT and ’63’ vehicles, and thus consistently interpret our brand essence of ‘Driving Performance’ in their segment.”

– Tobias Moers, Mercedes-AMG GmbH chairman

The change doesn’t have a major impact, as the AMG Sport sub-segment had a short run, but in a few months, some of you may be asking “What are Mercedes-AMG 43 models?” when they start rolling onto our lot.

Introducing the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43

The first of those models will be the Mercedes-AMG C43, which is replacing the Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG Sport for the 2017 model year. Powered by an AMG-specific 3.0-liter biturbo V-6 with a modified engine control unit paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, the newest C-Class model will put tout 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. With an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph and a 0-60 mph sprint time of just 4.6 seconds, everything about this new model screams AMG-standard performance.

Initially available in two-door coupe form only, the AMG C43 will receive AMG body styling, which includes special badging, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, and AMG instrument cluster, and a multifunction sports steering wheel, among other touches.

We’ll have more details about the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 as it nears its release date, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for more AMG 43 model announcements from Mercedes-Benz. Also explore our current selection of AMG models on the lot.
