It was just months ago we received our first shipment of Mercedes-Benz GLC SUVs. As the renamed and rebadged version of the Mercedes-Benz GLK, the all-new GLC has been a hit on our lot and in Mercedes-Benz showrooms across the country. Now, much like Mercedes-Benz did with the GLE, the automaker is building a sportier coupe version of the popular crossover, which debuted this week at the New York International Auto Show.
For those who follow the brand, even casually, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe comes as little surprise, as a neon-yellow concept version debuted at last year’s Shanghai Motor Show. If you’re familiar with that model, you already have a decent grasp on what the production GLC Coupe will have to offer.
2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Release Date
Interested in the all-new GLC Coupe? According to the automaker, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe release date will come sometime in early 2017. The new utility coupe will be available in GLC300 and AMG GLC43 variations, and you can expect the base model to be the first to arrive when the new year rolls around.
Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe vs SUV
On their exteriors, there are clear differences between the GLC Coupe and SUV. The new Coupe is a little longer and sits a little lower while the sloped rear provides a sporty coupe-like personal, despite its utility stature. The front side of the GLC Coupe is also unique, as it features a single bar (much like you’d see on AMG models) centered on a diamond block grille.
Inside, you can expect an identical layout, sans a few dimensional differences. The new GLC Coupe also offers a Cranberry Red MB-Tex upholstery that is not currently available in the SUV, which adds some distinct character for the right driver.
From a mechanical standpoint, there isn’t much difference between the SUV and Coupe. Both GLC300 models are equipped with 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines rated for 241 horsepower with the AMG models housing 362-horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged engines. All GLC models come equipped with 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission.
Stay tuned for more details about the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe release date as its arrival approaches and take a closer look at the GLC crossover currently available on our lot to get a feel for what the coupe version will have to offer.
