Those changes are already underway, as the Mercedes-Benz GLE (which recently arrived on the lot) has replaced the Mercedes-Benz M-Class. Soon, the Mercedes-Benz GLC will officially replace the GLK as well. What’s the difference between the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS and the 2016 GL-Class?
Aside from the name, Mercedes-Benz’s full-size SUV will receive some nice upgrades for the 2017 model year. Although it won’t undergo a full redesign, there are some minor changes to the exterior and notable improvements to the interior that add value for buyers.
On its exterior, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class will feature a redesigned front end with light revisions on the rear. At first glance, you’ll notice an updated grille and more chrome accents throughout to give the SUV a more modern look. The back end also receives full LED tail lamps and a few minor design tweaks to sync up with the changes on the front end.
More dramatic changes take place on the interior of the 2017 GLS. Like the GL-Class, the new GLS provides ample space for 7 passengers over three rows of seats. Although the overall layout and character of the SUV remains intact, there are a number of new features to get excited about. Like most recent Mercedes-Benz models, the GLS will get a new 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel wrapped in nappa leather. The instrument panel will also get a new look, complete with a color media display.
While those features are standard, the GLS will also have a few additional options that drivers can add to their vehicles, including an air ionization system to improve interior air quality. There also is a new Sport exterior available on the GLS550 that will give the SUV a more intimidating look.
