Differences between the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S
We were greeted with some exciting news recently that a new Mercedes-AMG E63 model would be arriving on our lot sometime next summer. Along with the new 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63, it was also announced that a 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S would also be produced. We wanted to lend a hand to those of you who might be interested in purchasing one of these exciting performance luxury sedan by explaining the differences between the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S.
More Horsepower and Faster Speeds in the Mercedes-AMG E63 S
We have already discussed the tremendous capability of the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 here on our website, but for the true speed freaks out there, the AMG E63 S is going to be the option for you. This model up the horsepower in the vehicle’s 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine to 603, and also churns out 627 lb.-ft of torque. This insane amount of power allows the AMG E63 S to travel from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, slightly faster than the AMG E63’s 3.4 second time. The AMG E63 S also has a top speed of 186 mph while the AMG E63 tops out at 155 mph.
E63 and E63 S Performance Feature Differences
In addition to the power differences in the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S, the vehicles also have some slight differences in the performance features that they receive. This starts with the tires, which are slightly larger on the E63 S than they are on the E63. The E63 S also has the ability to be put in “drift mode” by activating RACE model and disabling the traction control. The RACE drive program is not standard on the E63. Another difference is that the E63 S receives an electronically controlled rear differential lock, while the E63’s is simple a mechanical rear differential lock.
Dynamic Engine Mounts on the Mercedes-AMG E63 S
To provide the most dynamic driving experience possible, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S comes standard with dynamic engine mounts. Depending on the driving conditions, these engine mounts will adjust their stiffness to help make maneuvers more precise in the AMG E63 S. They will also adjust depending on the roughness of the road surface you are traveling over.
Premium Interior Differences
There is no denying that the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63 S both come equipped with some outstanding comfort features inside. However, the AMG E63 S gets a few more premium options, including Nappa leather covering, a sport steering wheel, crystal grey seat piping and seat belts in crystal grey.
