Mercedes-AMG Racing in 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship

Yes, that means Mercedes-AMG is racing in the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship!
What is the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship?
For those of you who might not be familiar with sportscar racing, the International Motor Sports Association, or IMSA, hosts the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship every year here in the United States. This is the premier endurance racing series here in the United States and it will give Mercedes-AMG the opportunity to show just how powerful and competitive their vehicles can be on the racetrack.
What Car will Mercedes-AMG be Racing?
You might recognize the vehicle in the pictures above as the familiar Mercedes-AMG GT. That is close to what is being raced. The vehicle is actually called the Mercedes-AMG GT3, and it is based off of the Mercedes-AMG GT S car. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be powered by a 6.3-liter V8 motor.
Where Will the Vehicle be Racing?
There are 12 events total for the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. It all starts in Daytona on January 26 and it will run up until the last race at Road Atlanta on Oct 7. Other popular locations that the series will visit include Laguna Seca in California, Road America in Wisconsin and Watkins Glen International in New York.
