Mercedes-Benz GLC Top Safety Pick+ IIHS
For 2017, the Mercedes-Benz GLC has been named among the few vehicles that go above and beyond to provide a safer driving experience. The versatile SUV was recently named as a 2017 TOP SAFETY PICK+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The luxury 5-seater came through to offer high ratings throughout the series of crash tests thanks to its intelligent body construction, standard front crash prevention system and its optional LED headlights. As the replacement model for the GLK SUV, the GLC is a popular choice among families.
Mercedes-Benz GLC IIHS Rating
When put to the test, the new GLC SUV was awarded “good” ratings in five crashworthiness tests. This includes the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints testing. Should the GLC SUV experience a collision, it works to keep its passengers secure thanks to numerous airbags, three-point safety belts with belt tensioning and belt-force limitation for the driver, front passenger, and rear outer passengers.
On top of that, the GLC SUV also offers a standard COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS system, which was rated as “superior” in front crash prevention. It was successful in IIHS collision tests at both 12 and 25 mph. The GLC was also praised for its dynamic LED headlights, which improve driver visibility and reaction times during night driving.
