New 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and AMG GT C at CAS
With all of the excitement surrounding the Chicago Auto Show, auto-enthusiasts will be happy to know that the Mercedes-Benz luxury car lineup has debuted a selection of new models for the upcoming model year. One such model is the powerful and sporty 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and its convertible counterpart the 2018 Mercedes-BEnz AMG GT C. Here’s what we know so far about these impressive new models
2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT performance information
This high-end, two-door sports car is making waves at the Chicago Auto Show, with the addition to new models to its lineup, notably the 2018 AMG GT C convertible as well as the AMG GT S and the AMG GT R.
In addition to its new models, the GT has also seen an update for its exterior styling. It’s new, powerful persona takes on a commanding role on the road. More power and a low engine growl can also be found with the GT’s new performance upgrades making it a top competitor against models like the Audi R8, Nissan GT-R and the Porsche 911.
Under its hood sits one of two engine options. Available engines include a 469-horsepower 4.0-liter V8 engine, a 515-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and a 557-horsepower 4.0-liter V8. All AMG GT models feature rear-wheel drive and are paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT C performance information
With this year marking its 50th Anniversary, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C will originally be available as a special 50th anniversary version, with standard models to be available later.
As a special anniversary model, Mercedes-Benz took out all the stops for the AMG GT C in terms of performance. This impressive model is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that is capable of creating a tremendous 550 horsepower. Paired with its rear-wheel drive and seven-speed automatic transmission, drivers can expect a smooth, yet exhilarating drive from this convertible coupe.
New 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Release Date
While no date has been announced for this model yet, the brand has stated that the AMG GT Roadster is expected to go on sale this summer, with the AMG GT R trim arriving in the fall. A release time frame has yet to be announced for the AMG GT C, however many estimate it will arrive in fall as well.
