What is the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQ?
These days, automakers are gradually making the shift from gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles. While many are putting stock into hybrids and alternative fuel sources, Mercedes-Benz has decided to one-up the current EV segment with its newest concept model, the Concept EQ. This unique model offers Electric Intelligence that would completely change the driving game.
Revealed at the Paris Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz showed off the new product brand, EQ which is designed to offer insight into the future of the brand and electric mobility. It derives its name from the Mercedes-Benz values as a brand of “Emotion and Intelligence”, hence the EQ standing for “Electric Intelligence”. It also strives to encompass all key aspects of customer-focused electric mobility.
The actual model put on display to show off the Mercedes-Benz EQ brand is the Concept EQ. It is the first series-produced EQ model and is expected to be launched in the SUV segment before 2020.
Mercedes-Benz EQ lineup will consist of all future battery-electric cars as well as any associated products and services from Mercedes-Benz. The Concept EQ shows how electric cars can soon take on their gasoline counterparts in terms of performance. The concept model offers the look of a sporty SUV coupe, rather than the compact or sedan that we typically see for electric vehicles. This just goes to show the high expectations and goals set by Mercedes-Benz.
The concept model runs on two electric motors, with a system output that can be increased to up to 300 kW. It also features permanent all-wheel drive to offer dynamic, high-level performance. It’s also estimated to have over a 300 mile range, while providing all of the safety, functionality and connectivity drivers are looking for from a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
